Department of Mechanical Engineering started functioning along with the Institute in 1998 and during the short period it has developed into a very vibrant teaching-learning unit at the institute. The department has highly qualified and experienced faculty. The sanctioned faculty strength is 3 Professors, 6 Assistant Professors and 9 Lecturers. It is headed by Prof. M.P. Kakkar who is well known in the field of Applied Mechanics. Prof. G.P. Dubey has vast research experience in frontier areas of design. Among Assistant Professors are Professor B.D. Arora, Professor B.B. Malhotra and Prof. K.N. Rastogi with rich industrial experience and Dr. S. Mukherji with good academic experience, who provide a very good amalgam of academics and industry.The department has well equipped laboratories to carry out experimental and R&D work. Modern equipments like CNC Lathe, Universal Testing Machine, Francis Turbine, Mechanical Heat Pump, Universal Vibration Machine, Air conditioning and IC Engine test Rigs are available. The CAD lab has design and analysis software such as Pro/Engineer, Auto Cad, J.L. Analyser, Working Model-2D and Sci lab. The students have brought laurels to the Institute by earning several merit positions in the University Examinations . The concerns of seven stake holders - students, parents, faculty and staff, industry, government agencies, management and community have been adequately addressed .
